Explore the philosophical underpinnings of modern thought, its entanglement with colonial histories, and its profound impact on societies across the globe. We invite you to join us on a journey that traverses the realms of philosophy, politics, technology, and culture, led by esteemed academics in the field. Engage with a challenging curriculum that seeks not just to impart knowledge but to inspire critical thinking and provoke meaningful dialogue.
The Vancouver Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies (VIIS) is a newly established educational platform, conceived with the aim of fostering an inclusive academic environment that transcends traditional boundaries. Founded by Prabhsharanbir Singh, a distinguished scholar and professor at the University of Fraser Valley, our institute seeks to offer high-quality, thought-provoking courses that challenge conventional wisdom and inspire innovative thought.
Prabhsharanbir Singh is a respected figure in the academic world, holding a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of British Columbia. His expertise encompasses South Asian Studies, Postcolonialism, Psychoanalysis, Continental Philosophy, and Philosophy of Technology. With a rich history of research and a deep commitment to intellectual exploration, Prabhsharanbir's vision serves as the guiding light for VIIS.
At VIIS, we envision a world where education breaks free from the constraints of traditional silos, encouraging learners to explore connections across diverse fields and disciplines. Our aim is to nurture critical thinkers who are capable of addressing the complex issues of our modern world from a multi-disciplinary perspective.
Our mission is to connect students from a wide range of backgrounds with leading experts, researchers, and educators in interdisciplinary studies. We aspire to create a platform that not only imparts knowledge, but also fosters a vibrant academic community committed to intellectual curiosity and continuous learning.
While we are proud of our beginnings, we are even more excited about our future. Our long-term goal is to expand our course offerings, covering an ever-wider range of topics within interdisciplinary studies. We aim to facilitate a direct link between dedicated educators and eager learners, creating a dynamic hub of knowledge and exploration.
